Scott's story and the why of this movement

It’s Monday May 23, 2016 and I am in the MRI machine at Seattle Cancer Care Alliance; this was the final step of my pre-surgery check to replace my left hip as the chondrosarcoma bone cancer had kept spreading. Dr Conrad came in to review the MRI results with me and I could tell he was shocked as he saw the cancer had metastasized throughout my entire body.  Said another way, I now was terminal.

Dr Conrad quickly assembled a group of Oncologists to provide any other solutions.  I asked them “What is next? What do you have for me?” After about 2 minutes of silence, the youngest doctor in the room, Seth, said “I have nothing for you.  This cancer is 100% resistant to chemotherapy and radiation is controversial at best.  Go home Scott, live what life you have left because within 3 months, you won’t be able to walk and in 6 months, you’ll be on hospice and pass shortly thereafter”. He shook my hand and said “good luck” and they all filed out of the room. I sat there in stunned silence wondering what I was going to do next, what I had to show for my life and honestly, how did I get here.. why is there no cure?

I first started to notice a decline in my health in 2011 and that year was full of disappointments and setbacks. I had lost my house and was still recovering from the personal ruin of the 2008 financial crisis and was having challenges getting my consulting company off the ground. I had just come out of an unhealthy relationship, was couch surfing and trying to get settled and just generally unhappy. My right arm would freeze up, my right fingers would go numb and overall, my right arm just did not work well. I was seeing a chiropractor weekly with temporary pain relief.  These issues continued to get worse and by June 1, 2013, I finally went to the ER because the pain in my right arm was unmanageable. The X-Ray concluded I had a tumor the size of a baseball in the bone of my upper right arm, diagnosed as chondrosarcoma, a very rare form of bone cancer.  The next 3 years of my life were spent in fear, with countless doctor appointments, spending hundreds of thousands of dollars chasing a remedy, a treatment, a cure; clearly with little success.

I drove home from that appointment in May 2016 and shared all of what the SCCA Oncologists said with Christa.  She said “no way you are dying, I just met you!  We’ve waited our whole life to be together…. we’ll get through this together”.  Later that evening, after visiting with our neighbor Jolene, Christa returned, excited, waving a CD series called “The Truth About Cancer” which Jolene had given us.  For the next few days, I watched every bit of the 7 CDs and I really saw there was hope for me in exploring these alternative cancer treatments. I mean, I had a reason to live. I had found the love of my life and I wanted to create a life with her and be here for my kids too. With Christa’s support and my will to beat cancer, we have now been on this NEW adventure to not just treat cancer, but really find a cure. Over the past 4 years, I’ve truly discovered the cure is me and am starting this movement “The Cure is You”.

Welcome to the journey of discovering with us what THE CURE IS YOU can be for you.
